Mindfulness

Groundlessness

Based on the excerpt from the article written by Meg Wheatley, I had the following reflection:

In my relatively long life journey ( I am 96 years old) I have encountered many ups and downs and there were a few times I felt groundlessness, a sense of sinking down without bottom, darkness without rays of hope. In such dark times of my life I felt and saw the light of based on the ground of unwavering faith. Faith is the light that hardly gets extinguished.

I felt dense darkness and groundlessness during the second stage of my life. I felt helplessness and hopelessness. They were dark periods of my life. Light of Faith in the higher power helped me go through dense darkness and see the light. Keeping my mind open and curious, accepting myself as imperfect, mindfully reducing the noise in my mind, and being grateful to my family and friends for holding my hands when I was falling down have been very helpful to me.

I have a framed quote on my bathroom wall that says, "Faith is the bird that feels the light and sings even when the dawn is still dark." I love that quote!

At first, I was like NO HOPE? My particular faith even states "Faith, Hope & Love." Then I started to think about it and how we sometimes say "I hope so..." that can be said in many ways. I'm realizing now that HOPE really is not from a confident place. HOPING may not lead one to action. I hope the politicians will do X, rather than writing them or calling them to MAKE SURE! I hope I get an A on my test, rather than studying more to make sure. I hope our planet will not be affected by climate change rather than taking any and every action I can and motivating others so it is not affected as much as it might be if we did not take action.

I'm very grateful for this post. It really had me think about HOPE. I think Hope is needed at least to have a person think it is not a lost cause and then after that one has to BELIEVE and GET IT DONE! :-)
