Isness

After reading the wonderful writing by Lata Mani, here is my reflection:
Isness means that something is. Isness is the understanding that everything that exists is not only infinitely alive but it has its own particular vibrancy that connects our body, mind and heart as a triadic form of intelligence that is available to us all as humans. Sadly, we are taught or conditioned to focus on divisiveness on the basis of caste, color and creed. According to me this is not spirituality. Spiritually we all are children of God regardless of which religion we may follow. Real religiosity unites us as brothers and sisters. It doesn't hurt, It heals. To a real religious person, the whole universe is a family. Such a spiritual orientation does not believe in conversion, in a spiritual superiority. Unfortunately and sadly we have leaders who sadly have this kind of mental complex. I have heard some political and religious leaders proclaiming God is on the outside when we fight deadly wars. Understanding and practicing illness unites us, elevates us on a higher plane of awareness and consciousness. We transcend from Me to We, from personal consciousness to unitive consciousness. Daily Mindfulness practice and practicing Mindfulness Meditation helps me stay on my path.

Namaste!

Hello Dr DAVE’

You have a beautiful vocabulary. Your use of words and the English language are so wonderful to read and hear when you are speaking. Thank you for this elevation into academia and isnrss.

I enjoyed this article and particularly when he mentioned the word dance. You know my metaphor for life is dance and as a dancer, I see it in the form of tree branches, cloud, formations, while stirring soup and so on :-)

What I find so interesting about humans is our desire to try to figure things out. It seems that we spend a lot of time doing that. Either seeking the ego to be “right “or to seek deeper and deeper understanding and meaning in life. Humans are very interesting creatures and very comical. I find it often amusing and enjoy the journey of discovery as well.

I like the isness Of the isness…

I hope this brought smiles to your heart as you bring to mine and everyone who knows you

I am surprised that Hallmark has not designed a holiday to celebrate “Isness “

Namaste

Elaine

I liked this piece and your reply. I find it interesting to think of identical twins. They are genetically the same though there must be something a bit different of their isness that those who know them best can tell them apart. I also think about how we now realize many animals even have isness. Certainly, Jane Goodall's life work has helped with this, but those of us who love animals and live with them know they each have their own isness. The author mentioned no two leaves are the same. My Sustainability Book Club recently read The Light Eaters: How the Unseen World of Plant Intelligence Offers a New Understanding of Life on Earth by Zoe Schlanger and they discuss plant intelligence and consciousness. Incredibly fascinating how the communicate to each other and insects etc.I would not be surprised if one day we go more macro in our understanding of the planet and whole universe having isness. Spending so much time with my nieces it is fascinating to watch their isness come to be. While isness can be modified by the environment we certainly recognize we come into the world with isness. One can look back at baby pictures and videos and see that same isness they have when they are older. My youngest niece will be 5 years old in 10 days and man what an isness of strength, exploration, boldness, happiness, yet sensitive, kind and loving, oh and laughter. You can see this from when she was so little. Lastly, I think this piece is a great reminder to try to be aware of everyone's isness. When we don't it is too easy to not care and if we do not do this how can we expect others to do this for us? It is difficult when some people's isness is not all that great but then I always ask Why is that? and I can find some mercy and compassion for them overall though still say this is not acceptable behavior.

Hello, Dr. Dave.

You won't remember me, I am sure, but I received my bachelor's in psychology and was working on my master's at GSU; I was one of the people who participated in your doctoral research for your PsyD. I so enjoyed learning from you and working with you then. I am currently working on my Doctor of Nursing Practice and, while working on a presentation on Meditation as a complementary medicine, I thought I would see how you are. I am so glad you will soon be reaching a milestone birthday and that you are still active and teaching meditation. My memory of your willingness to pursue that PsyD is part of what kept me struggling towards my own doctorate. I wish you nothing but beautiful years ahead.
